Niels Bohr: Danish culture, complementarity and an open world

Niels Bohr's activities and interests stretched far beyond physics. For example, he was life through heavily linked to Denmark and Danish culture in a broad sense. After he developed his idea of complementarity based on quantum mechanics from 1927, his activities in many areas were held together by this idea, also in cases where he did not explicitly mention the idea, this applies not only to Bohrs essay "Danish Culture ", which is probably the strongest expression of his affiliation with Denmark. This also applies to his political commitment to an ' open world ' between nations which, like the essay in point, became a part of the Second World War.
